  • 1992 - Maersk Oil signed an Exploration & Production Sharing Agreement (EPSA) with Qatar Petroleum to develop the field
  • 1994 - Oil production from the field commenced initially from temporary offshore facilities
  • 1998 - these were supplemented by permanent production facilities at three locations
  • 2001 - New field development plan
  • 2004 - The facilities were expanded with three additional platform locations
  • 2005 - Qatar Petroleum and Maersk Oil Qatar Agree on Further Development
  • 2006 - Al-Shaheen Oil Field Gas Recovery and Utilization Project launched
  • 2010 - FSO Asia delivered
  • 2010 - The field produces its 1 Billionth barrel of oil
  • 2010 - Contract signed for FSO Africa
