Brief Description

  • A large liquefaction plant with 7 tanks, the terminal has been expanded in a number of phases since opening

Technical Details

  • Storage capacity: Two 160,000 cubic meter storage tanks
  • Unloading capacity: The jetty is able to dock LNG carriers with shipping capacity ranging from 80,000 to 270,000 cubic meters
  • Send out capacity:
  • Constructor:
    • SOFREGAZ: The FEED and also provided services for detailed engineering, procurement, commissioning/start-up and training.
    • LPEC: EPCC contractor

Ongoing Projects/Project Status

  • The project was completed in 2014
  • Two more LNG tanks were commissioned in 2021

  • 2008 - Shandong Qingdao LNG project environmental impact evaluation was announced to the public
  • 2009 - Purchase agreement signed with PNG LNG
  • 2010 - FEED & EPC contract awarded
  • 2010 - Sinopec has started building its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal in Qingdao
  • 2014 - Terminal commissioned
  • 2021 - Terminal expanded to 7.0 mtpa
  • 2023 - Additional tank completed
