Description
- Búzios field is some 200km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, at a water depth that ranges from 1,600 to 2,100 meters. It was previously called Franco Oil And Gas Field
- Búzios is the largest deepwater field in the world and the current development concept includes 11 platforms.
- The field is currently utilising the P-74 FPSO, P-75 FPSO, P-76 FPSO and P-77 FPSO and Almirante Barroso FPSO, each of which is capable of producing up to 150,000 barrels/day and of compressing 7 million cubic meters of natural gas/day was recently added.
- Currently, six more units are under construction (Almirante Tamandaré FPSO, P-78, P-79 FPSO, P-80 FPSO, P-82 FPSO, and P-83 FPSO)

History
- 2010 - Franco Oil And Gas Field discovered
- 2012 - Petrobras reported drilling of the first well
- 2013 - Declaration of commerciality
- 2015 - First oil from early production system
- 2018 - P74, the first permanent platform arrived on the field, followed by P-75
- 2019 - P76, the third FPSO arrived on the field, followed by P-77
- 2020 - More oil discovered in the field
- 2022 - Petrobras sold another 10% to CNOOC
- 2023 - Almirante Barroso FPSO starts producing oil
Geology
- The oil bearing rock is 272 metres thick
- The pre-salt reservoirs in this field contain good quality oil (between 26º and 28º API)
