Description

  • The Elgin and Franklin fields started producing in 2001 and account for 7% of the UK’s production. These are high pressure high temperature fields whose exploitation requires strong technological expertise.
  • Both fields have their own wellhead platform with production from the fields being processed through one central facility –- a production/utilities/quarters (PUQ) platform located on the Elgin field
  • At the time of development, the Elgin/Franklin project constitutes the largest high-pressure/high-temperature development in the world (particularly high pressures of 1,100 bars and temperatures of 200° centigrade) and the deepest reservoirs ever put into production in the North Sea (approximately 5,500 meters).

The Glenelg gas condensate field is located in blocks 29/4D and 29/5B of the UK Central North Sea, 4 kilometres (2.4 miles) to the west of Elgin/Franklin. Glenelg was developed as a satellite to Elgin/Franklin and is produced via a single well from the Elgin A WHP.
