- The field consists of three parts, Cormorant North & South and recently discovered Cormorant East
- Cormorant Alpha is a Concrete Gravity Based Structure (CGBS)
- Cormorant Alpha also receives oil via pipelines from the Brent C, Dunlin Oil Field, North Alwyn and North Cormorant platforms as well as from the Pelican subsea tie-back.
- Prior to 2012, oil from the Murchison Oil Field was also handled here
- North Cormorant is a drilling and production facility for the North Cormorant field. The North Cormorant platform is also a production facility for the Cormorant East field, the Eider Oil Field and the Causeway Oil Field
