Dunlin Oil Field

The Greater Dunlin Area consists of the Dunlin, Dunlin South West, Osprey and Merlin Fields, located in the Shetland Basin of the northern North Sea. The Dunlin Alpha platform served as the production facility for the Greater Dunlin Area and is located in block 211/23a, approximately 137 km north east of Shetland and 11 km from the UK / Norwegian median line, in a water depth of 151 m.
The Causeway Oil Field is also tied back to the Dunlin Alpha Platform
The platform also received oil from the Murchison Oil Field
Oil was transported to the Brent System Oil Pipeline via the Cormorant Alpha Platform

1973 - Dunlin Oil Field discovered
1978 - Government approval for field development
2008 - Agreement signed with Antrim, to tie back [[[Causeway Oil Field]]] to the Dunlin Alpha Platform
2007 - Shell / Esso decide to sell the field
2008 - Fairfield acquired the field
2010 - Technip awarded Gas pipeline project
2012 - Gas pipeline and water injection project completed
2015 - Production ceased
2019 - Approval granted for decommissioning of the Dunlin Alpha to Cormorant Alpha Pipeline
