History
- 2000 - BP Amoco and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) signed an agreement to build the terminal
- 2001 - BP signed an LNG agreement with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation and Eni
- 2001 - Turnkey contract for project awarded to JGC, KBR and Tecnicas Reunidas
- 2004 - Terminal came on stream
- 2004 - Supply agreement signed with BP
- 2012 - The terminal was closed down due to a lack of sufficient gas
- 2021 - The terminal was commissioned for the second time, thanks to increased gas supply
