Description
- The development consists of two wellhead platforms separated by a combined processing platform bridged to CNOOC Weizhou 12-1A integrated platform, using existing water injection and gas processing facilities.
- There are 6 wells on the WZ12-10 platform and 12 wells on the WZ8-8 platform
- The WZ12-8 East Project consists of 6 new wells and a platform, connected to the to the existing WZ12-8W wellhead platform by an 8km subsea pipeline

History
- 2002 - ROC entered the offshore 22/12 block and discovered the Weizhou 6-12 oil field
- 2006 - The Weizhou 6-12S-1 exploratory well was drilled
- 2010 - CNOOC Limited opted to join the development project with a 51% interest
- 2011 - Final investment decision was made
- 2013 - Production started
- 2022 - Production started at the WZ12-8 East Project
Geology
- The reservoirs range from the fluvial-lacustrine sandstone of the Eocene quicksand granite layer, to the shallow sea sandstone of Jiaowei in the Miocene, and to the Weizhou sandstone of the Oligocene.
- The quality of the oil ranges from light to heavy, with low to medium viscosity and some waxy crudes.
