History

• 1984 - Natural gas production begins for West Australian market
• 1989 - Commercial operations are launched with trains 1 & 2 (5 million tonnes a year)
• 1992 - LNG Train 3 commissioned (2.5 million tonnes a year)
• 2004 - LNG Train 4 commissioned (4.4 million tonnes a year)
• 2005 - Contracts awarded for Phase V
• 2008 - LNG Train 5 commissioned (4.4 million tonnes a year)
• 2018 - Supply deal signed with the Browse Joint Venture

• The North Rankin And Perseus Gas Fields supply gas as do the Cossack Wanaea Lambert And Hermes CWLH Fields
• NWS are developing the Greater Western Flank GWF Project Gas Fields to increase security of supply
• Hess has signed a liquefaction agreement for the Equus Gas And Condensate Fields

Customers

• Major customers in Japan include Chubu Electric Power Company, Chugoku Electric Power Company, Kansai Electric Power Company, Kyushu Electric Power Company, Osaka Gas Co., Toho Gas Co., Tohoku Electric Power Company, Tokyo Electric Power Company, Tokyo Gas Co. and Shizuoka Gas Co.
• In October 2002 the North West Shelf LNG Sellers signed a sale and purchase agreement with Guangdong [[[Dapeng Lng Terminal]]] for China's first LNG project in the Guangdong Province. At the time the 25 year contract represented the single largest export contract in Australian history.
• In April 2003 the North West Shelf LNG Sellers signed a new seven year contract with the Korea Gas Corporation.

Other Information

• Representing an investment of A$27 billion, the North West Shelf Venture facilities constitute Australia's largest oil and gas resource development and currently account for more than 40 per cent of Australia's oil and gas production.
