Crude Supply
- The refinery processes primarily sweet (low sulfur) domestic crude oil from North Dakota
- A 750-mile crude oil gathering and mainline system, High Plains Crude Oil Pipeline, delivers all of the Mandan refinery’s crude supply

Projects
- Tesoro Corporation expanded the crude oil throughput capacity at its Mandan, North Dakota refinery from 58,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 68,000 bpd in 2012
- Tesoro expects to supply the plant with additional crude oil from the burgeoning crude oil production in the nearby Bakken Shale/Williston Basin area via the Tesoro High Plains Pipeline system
- Tesoro will also Expand diesel desulfurization unit (DDU) capacity from 17 to 22 mbpd by the end of 2013
