  • The first LNG import terminal to be built in China

+++ Technical Details

  • Storage capacity: three 160,000 M3 superscript LNG storage tanks
  • Unloading capacity: Berth capable of accommodating 80,000~260,000 M3 LNG carriers
  • Send out capacity:
  • Constructor:
    • **JGC and Halliburton KBR:** FEED
    • **Atkins** was appointed by the BP/CNOOC as the International Consultant for the ESIA Study
    • **Saipem, Tecnimont and Sofregaz:** Lump sum turnkey contract for the engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and start-up
    • **Freyssinet:** LNG Tank post-tensioning


+++ Ongoing Projects/Project Status

  • Phase 2 of the terminal will expand capacity
  • This extension comprises mainly the fourth LNG tank as well as equipment and additional material associated
  • Total capacity upon the completion of Phase II will be about 12.0 million tons per year.


+++ Suppliers / Customers

  • Suppliers: Australia [[[North West Shelf LNG]]] Venture and Qatargas
  • Customers:
    • Sixty-five percent of the imported LNG is used for power generation customers, while the remaining 35% is allocated to town gas customers Shenzhen, Dongguan, Guangzhou, Foshan and Hong Kong.
    • The gas is delivered via more than 360 km of natural gas pipeline network leading to major population centers

  • 2002 - FEED contract awarded
  • 2003 - The ESIA was approved and verified by the State Environmental Protection Agency and the Guangdong Environmental Protection Bureau
  • 2003 - Saipem, Tecnimont and Sofregaz awarded EPC contract
  • 2006 - First cargo of LNG arrived
  • 2008 - FEED contract awarded to Sofregaz for the extension project
  • 2009 - First supply from Qatar
