Great Online Poker Support
Poker is like a great song. It's good, but if you listen to it for too long, it get's boring. And if you leave it be for a while, later you are still going to enjoy it.
Boredom is a huge issue in poker, especially excellent excellent online poker (see this page) poker, because in online poker you don't see people, you do not actually converse with them, so it's less fun. In real-life game it's different, you may enjoy other people, listen to jokes, be friendly, you know. So I think poker boredom is an important enough issue to dedicate one post to it.
Being bored is like being on tilt actually. You don't play the very best game you might and also you know it. Instead you are just spending time trying to do things. If you're really bored you will try some approach you know is wrong and while on tilt, well, you shall do anything. One more thing these two have in common - you probably will try higher stakes. When you are bored you will attempt to catch some adrenaline, in case you are on tilt you are going to try and win big soon. Usually the result is catastrophic.
I don't know what the most effective strategy for addressing boredom actually is, but I can tell you a few things I do and hope they may be helpful.
Get out of there. If you're playing a game and also are bored out of your head, just leave. Believe me, it's better. Much of the time you will avoid losing your entire stack. If it's tournament you are playing, you can't leave but do not start another one, do not even play a cash table. If you think you've got much too much time in between, just watch some movie or something. I have even read a book for a number of times. It helps to get your thoughts off the boredom.
I for example always try to mix my game. And I am not talking about changing stakes, I'm speaking about different facets of poker - there are so many in online poker world and you can always find someone to play with. Use my advice - try out something totally new.
If you are playing only heads up, try Sit 'n' Go. In case you are playing Sit 'n' Go, try cash games or jackpot SnG. Maybe try Omaha for example - you may be better there than you know. Just mix them. When you've had enough fun with that, just return to your normal game, the one you feel comfortable in. Maybe you will even find something totally new and go there. Do not be afraid to try new things. Even changing the amount of players at the table can really help fight boredom, since it changes the game a great deal.
