Crude Supply
- It is directly connected to the North Sea oil fields via the Forties Pipeline System, from which it sources the majority of its crude oil at a significant freight advantage versus its competitors
- It is also connected to its own deep water terminal at Finnart on the west coast of Scotland via which it imports alternative crudes (North Sea, Russia and Africa etc)

History
- 1924 - Grangemouth refinery production begins
- 1981 - the commissioning of an alkylation unit
- 1987 - Explosion and Fire in the Hydrocracker Complex
- 2000 - FCC closed after fire
- 2004 - FCC brought back on line after revamp
- 2005 - BP sold the refinery to Ineos
- 2011 - Petrochina takes a share in Ineos refining and trading business
- 2013 - Major strike & Evaluation of the refinery's future
