Firefighter Who Stalked His Girlfriend Sentenced To Only 6 Weeks

A firefighter who harassed and stalked his ex girlfriend for over seven months will spend just six weeks behind bars.
Damien Mark Buckley, from Darwin, admitted to breaking into his ex girlfriend's home while she was slept, http://momfuture.mystrikingly.com/blog/how-to-make-my-girlfriend-s-birthday-special before stealing her mobile phone, photos of her and her late father, and her work handbag.  
On another occasion, Buckley, 44, called his former girlfriend from a private number and said 'I hope you had a good day celebrating the day of your dad's death, you dirty s**t,' [ ] reported.

The woman broke up with Buckley during a trip to Bali in 2017, but he continued to contact her even after she moved to the US to distance herself from him.  
In court on Monday, Judge Elizabeth Morris said that Buckley described his behaviour as 'concerning and frightening'.
Judge Morris handed Buckley a prison sentence even after he was found suitable for supervision in the community.

Buckley was sentenced to 12 months and seven days after pleading guilty to using a telephone to harass, breaching a domestic violence order and unlawful entry, among other offences. 
However, the former firefighter will be released after just six weeks behind bars.
