Brief Description
- Prior to reversal, the pipeline originated at the St James PAA Oil Terminal in St. James, Louisiana, passes near Memphis and terminated in Patoka, Illinois
- Supply cames from the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP)
- Following reversal, it carries Bakken & Canadian crude to the Gulf Coast
- The pipeline supplies crude to refineries in the Chicago area and also to the Memphis Refinery and Catlettsburg Refinery

- 2004 - Plains All American closed the acquisition of an interest in the Capline Pipeline System
- 2014 - Study launched to assess reversing the flow
- 2021 - Pipeline reopened following reversal

- The pipeline was chronically under utilised as growing volumes of Canadian crude reduced the demand for imported crude oils, so its direction was reversed
