  • Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline (M&NP) is a 1400-kilometre transmission pipeline system built to transport natural gas from developments offshore Nova Scotia to markets in Atlantic Canada and the northeastern United States.
  • The M&NP system consists of an approximately 30"/24" diameter underground mainline running from Goldboro, Nova Scotia through Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to the Canadian - U.S. border near Baileyville, Maine.
  • The pipeline continues through Maine and New Hampshire into Massachusetts where it connects with the existing North American pipeline grid at Dracut, Massachusetts. The pipeline also extends from Methuen, Massachusetts to Beverly, Massachusetts.
  • It has interconnects with Portland Natural Gas Transmission System PNGTS

History

  • 1999 - Maritimes & Northeast Phase II & Veazie Lateral completed
  • 2006 - Application made to NEB for the connection to Canaport LNG
  • 2007 - Phase IV Construction launched to increase capacity by approximately 400 million cubic feet per day (Mmcf/d) to almost 800 Mmcf/d
  • 2007 - Open season launched for Phase V expansion
  • 2009 - The pipeline starts carrying gas from Canaport LNG
  • 2014 - Atlantic Bridge project launched
  • 2017 - Enbridge became a partner when it acquired Spectra
