History

  • 1967 - Refinery commissioned by Texaco
  • 1979 -A hydrotreater, sulfur complex, three crude oil storage tanks and an additional dock were added
  • 1984 - The plant capacity was approximately doubled with an upgrade
  • 1989 - Saudi Aramco became a partner
  • 1998 - The plant became a part of Motiva Enterprises, adding Shell as a family partner
  • 2004 - Air products builds hydrogen plant
  • 2011 - Air Products announces connection of the refinery to their hydrogen pipeline network
  • 2015 - Louisiana Refining System project launched
  • 2016 - Shell takes ownership of the refinery
  • 2020 - Shell announces that the refinery is to close
