Description

  • The Abu Qir concession is the oldest gas production area in the Mediterranean Sea, located in the shallow waters of Abu Qir Bay in the West Nile Delta of Egypt. It remains one of the largest gas producing hubs in Egypt, and comprises three fields (Abu Qir, North Abu Qir and West Abu Qir) and a network of six production platforms (including 2 bridge connected compression platforms, P1-C and P2-C), 24 wells and a network of sealines.
  • Gas produced is treated onshore in the Meadia plant and have a treatment capacity of 480 MMScf per day. Gas, LPG and condensate sales streams are extracted and sold to the local market by a series of product pipelines.
  • The oldest fields in the Abu Qir concessions have been in production since the 1970s.

Edison announces the signing of the agreement with Energean Oil and Gas to sell the 100% of Edison Exploration and Production (E&P) and its subsidiaries in the hydrocarbons exploration and production business. The signing follows the approval of the transaction by the Edison Board of Directors on July 3, 2019.
