- 1957 - Commissioned by Caltex Oil Refining (India)
- 1976 - Taken over by Government of India
- 1978 - Merged with HPCL
- 1985 - Expansion of Refinery from 1.5 to 5.6 Million TPA & Secondary Processing Facilities (FCC : 0.6 Million TPA)
- 1999 - The refinery's crude refining capacity increased to a further 7.5 MMTPA
- 2000 - 1.8 Million TPA DHDS Project
- 2005 - DHDS Revamp
- 2012 - Clean fuels project completed
