Brief Description
- The most complex Saudi Aramco refinery, it processes both crude oil & gas condensates
- Ras Tanura is part of a very large scale complex, with a NGL processing facility and a crude stabilization facility
Refining Units
- Atmospheric Distillation - 325,000
- Gas Condensate Distillation Unit - 225,000
- Catalytic reforming Units - 107,000
- Hydrocracker - 50,000
- Visbreaker - 60,000
- Diesel Hydrotreater - 105,000
Terminal Capacity
- Crude Oil:
- Refined Products:
Crude Supply
- Crude is normally transferred to Ras Tanura through a pipeline from the Abqaiq Oil Processing Plant and can also be supplied by ship
Products Produced
- LPG, Gasoline, Diesel, Jet Fuel, Fuel Oil & Asphalt
Ongoing / Completed Projects
- The Ras Tanura Refinery Clean Fuels Project includes Isomerisation, Naphtha hydro-treatment, CCR reformer and associated utilities
- It will enable the refinery to convert naphtha into high specification gasoline
- Jacobs Engineering completed a Refinery Clean Fuels and Aromatics Project in 2011, which added diesel desulphurisation capability
- Samsung engineering built the 100,000 bpd diesel desulphurisation unit at the plant
- There was a major expansion planned for the refinery, but it is currently on hold
- For details see Ras Tanura Refinery Expansion Project
