History

  • 1970 - Inaugurated as the Osaka Refinery of Koa Oil Co., Ltd.
  • 1971 - Started operation (refining capacity of 80,000 barrels per day)
  • 1992 - Refining capacity expanded to 95,000 barrels per day
  • 1993 - Refining capacity expanded to 104,000 barrels per day
  • 1998 - Started electric power sales
  • 2002 - Merger of Koa brought refinery to Nippon
  • 2003 - Refining capacity expanded to 115,000 barrels per day
  • 2004 - Gasoil hydrotreater started
  • 2008 - Nippon Oil and CNPC Sign “Letter of Intent to Establish a Joint Refinery”
  • 2019 - Eneos announces that the refinery is to close
  • 2020 - The refinery is closed down.
