Summary Information Also known as Raffineria di Roma Ownership: ERG / Total Website: http://www.erg.it/ List of Total Refineries Location: Rome, Italy Capacity: 4.3 million tons/annum & 86,000 bbl/day Nelson Complexity: Refining Depth: Brief Description A medium sized low complexity refinery that utilises low sulphur crude from North Africa Refining Units Atmospheric Distillation Visbreaker, 34,000 bpd Asphalt Unit Terminal Capacity Crude Oil: Refined Products: Crude Supply process mainly low-sulphur crude oils originating from the Mediterranean basin and West Africa Crude oils with high-sulphur content are also processed for the production of bitumen The Refinery site is connected to the depot/booster station in Fiumicino by two pipeline Two off-shore platforms connected to the Fiumicinostation via four sea-lines are used for crude oil products/receipt, and products dispatch by sea Products Produced - Ongoing Projects The refinery is to be converted into a terminal History 1965 - Refinery is commissioned 1990 - Topping unit revamp 2010 - The refinery became part of the TotalErg joint venture 2012 - TotalErg announce the closure of the refinery Other Information The area served by the refinery is characterised by a high demand for transportation fuels, which the refinery production is not able to meet. As a result, the Rome refinery is also an important logistical base: a certain amount of products, equal to 50% of refinery production, arrives from the outside, using the structure as a transit depot.
