The Project

  • Project Summary: The upgrade enabled the Barrancabermeja refinery to produce gasoline and diesel in compliance with international environmental regulations regarding sulphur content reduction.
  • Main Contractors:
    • Technip Front end design, detailed engineering and procurement services for the process units, as well as supervision of contractors’ activities for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC).

Refining Units

  • 19,000 barrels per stream day (BPSD) gasoline hydrodesulphurization unit - Axens
  • 57,000 BPSD diesel hydrodesulphurization unit - Axens
  • 19,000 million standard cubic feet per day hydrogen production unit -Technip KTI
  • 55 tons/day sulphur recovery unit
  • 110 tons/day tail gas treatment unit
  • 500 gallons per minute (GPM) sour water stripper
  • 30 GPM diesel/gasoline amine regeneration unit.
