The Project

Project Type: Greenfield Refinery Project Summary: The New Refinery Project is a 615,000 bpd grassroots refinery to be built in Kuwait and will consist of over 15 process units plus buildings, utilities and offsite facilities. Main Contractors AMEC: Project Management Consultancy (PMC) contract Honeywell: Integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS) UOP: Licences for various units Fluor / Daewoo / Hyundai : EPC package for a variety of key process units, utilities and infrastructure Cancelled Contracts HDEC received the fifth package worth around U$ 1.12 billion to build the marine facilities

Refining Units

Residuum Hydrotreater Complex - 330,000 BPSD - Chevron Lummus Global 50,000 barrels per day (bpd) RFCC complex with ethylene and propylene recovery, 24,000 bpd Honeywell UOP SelectfiningTM unit to produce low-sulfur gasoline. Two Honeywell UOP Merox™ units UOP Ethermax™ unit Butamer™ unit CCR Platforming™ unit, 66,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) naphtha hydrotreater, 74,000 bpd LD Parex™ aromatics complex — including the Honeywell UOP Sulfolane™, Isomar™ and Tatoray™ processes Oleflex™ propane dehydrogenation unit, 660,000 metric tons per year

Due to political problems, the project was cancelled. However, it is now going to be revived
