- List of Valero Refineries
- Location: Pembroke, Milford Haven, West Wales
- Capacity: 10.5 million tons/annum & 210,000 bbl/day
- Nelson Complexity: 11.5
Brief Description
- The refinery is one of the largest, most complex refineries in Western Europe with a high gasoline yield.
Refining Units
- Atmospheric Distillation
- VDU
- Fluidised Catalytic Cracker
- HF Alkylation unit,
- Isomerisation Unit
- catalytic reforming unit
- hydrotreating
Terminal Capacity
- Approximately 10.5 million barrels of storage, about half used for feedstocks
Crude Supply
- The refinery is able to process heavy crudes
- It also processes acidic crudes including Doba Crude from the oil fields of Chad in Africa.
Products Produced
- Petrol
- Diesel
- Kerosene & jet fuel
- Fuel oil
- LPG
- Petrochemical feedstocks
- About half of the refineries output is gasoline.
Projects
-
Other Information
- As of March 2010, Chevron announced that it was looking for a buyer for the refinery. Like all gasoline oriented refineries in Europe, a market dominated by diesel, the refinery is not as profitable as it should be given its high complexity.
History
- The refinery was initially owned by the Regent Oil Company, a large domestic marketer of Trinidad-produced oils.
- 1956 - Regent was fully acquired by Texaco
- 1982 - A fluid catalytic cracker came on stream
- 1996 - Texaco acquire Gulf Oil's share of Pembroke Cracking Company
- 2011 - Chevron has reached an agreement with Valero Energy Corporation to sell the refinery
- 2011 - Four contractors killed in an explosion
- 2013 - Foster Wheeler Signs Services Agreement
