+++ Description
* The Aasta Hansteen development contains three significant gas discoveries in the Vøring Basin, in the Northern Norwegian Sea. The expected recoverable net volume is estimated at 40 – 60 mn boe of gas and 0.8 – 1.0 mn boe of condensate in a water depth of approximately 1,300 m
* With a total hull length of 193 meters and a draught of 170 meters, the Aasta Hansteen (formerly named Luva) Spar platform will be the largest of its kind, capable of producing 812 million cubic feet (23 million cubic meters) of gas a day and storing 160,000 barrels of condensate.
* Gas will be transported to Norway via the [[[Norwegian Sea Gas Infrastructure (NSGI) Project]]]
* Gas is to be processes at the [[[Nyhamna Gas Plant]]]

* 1997 - The Aasta Hansteen field was originally discovered
* 2011 - The licensees chose a floating field centre, the first Spar in Norway, as the field centre
* 2012 - Aker Solutions awarded a FEED (front-end engineering and design) Spar platform
* 2012 - Technip awarded construction of the hull for the Spar platform
* 2012 - OMV signed an agreement to acquire a 15% stake in Aasta Hansteen
* 2013 - Partners submitted the plan for development and operation (PDO) of the field to the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy
* 2013 - Aker Solutions awarded umbilical contract
* 2014 - Statoil sold a 24% stake to Wintershall

* The reservoir contains gas in Cretaceous sandstones in the Nise Formation at a depth of about 3,000 metres
