Description

• Zubair field is one of the largest discovered fields in the world, but currently produces well below potential
• It is being redeveloped by an Eni led consortium
• The consortium plans to increase production from the Zubair field to 1.2 million barrels of oil a day
• The project includes the drilling of more than 200 wells, the construction of treatment facilities and the required collection network, as well as the refurbishment of the existing plants

• 1949 - Zubair Oil Field discovered
• 2009 - The field was offered in the first licencing round but the bidding consortium did not meet the payment terms

• 2010 - Production reached 201,000 barrels of oil per day
• 2013 - Production target reduced to 850,000 bpd
