Summary Information

  • Operator: ENI
  • Country: Egypt
  • Location: Shorouk Block, Egypt’s Offshore Mediterranean
  • Production start: 2017
  • Partners: ENI 50%, Rosneft 30%, BP 10%, Mubadala Petroleum 10%
  • Type: Gas
  • Estimated Reserves: 850 BCM, (about 5.5 billion barrels of oil equivalent)
  • Production Volume: 2 bcfd, equivalent to approximately 365,000 boed

Description

  • Zohr, a super giant field, is the largest gas discovery ever made in Egypt and in the Mediterranean Sea. Initial estimates were for 30 TCF of reserves
  • The field lies area of the field is 231 km2 , its in-place reserves exceed 850 bcm
  • Development of the field entailed a long subsea connection to an onshore gas processing plant. The field is controlled by a shallow water platform.
  • The field is expected to produce 2.7 bcfd per day at peak production

Contractors

  • Offshore
    • Aker Solutions: Supply of 180 kilometers of steel tube umbilicals
    • OneSubsea: six horizontal subsea trees, intervention and workover control systems, landing string, tie-in, high-integrity pressure protection system, topside and subsea controls and distribution, water detection and salinity monitoring, and installation and commissioning services.
  • Gas Processing plant
    • Kinetics Technology: Engineering & Procurement) contract, supplying two modularized Sulphur Recovery Units complete with Claus, Tail Gas Treatment (TGT) and Acid Gas Enrichment (AGE) sections
  • Control Platform
    • Petrobel: Fabrication, Load out & sea-fastening

  • 2016 - FID for the project
  • 2016 - Aker soultions awarded umbilicals contract
  • 2016 - BP acquired 10% of the field
  • 2017 - Rosneft acquired 30% of the field
  • 2017 - First gas produced
  • 2018 - Second and third production units started
  • 2018 - Mubadala Petroleum acquired a 10% stake
