Details

  • The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) is a natural gas pipeline which transports gas from the Caspian region via Greece and Albania and across the Adriatic Sea to southern Italy and further into western Europe. The project was aimed at enhancing security of supply as well as diversification of gas supplies for the European markets. TAP opened a new so-called Southern Gas Corridor to Europe and established a new market outlet for natural gas from the Caspian Sea.
  • The pipeline supplies the Greece-Bulgaria Interconnector ICGB
  • There is a project to increase capacity from 10 BCM to 20 BCM

  • 2011 - TAP submitted its proposal to the Shah Deniz Consortium
  • 2012 - TAP launches an “Expression of Interest”, a first, non-binding phase of the market test
  • 2013 - TAP completed FEED
  • 2013 - Shah Deniz Consortium selects the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) as European export pipeline
