+++ Description
- The field was previously known as Chablis
- Block 48/17d is located in the UK Southern North Sea some 56km due east from Theddlethorpe on the Lincolnshire coast.
- The field is located some 12km to the south west of the Perenco operated Lancelot and Guinevere fields.
- A two subsea horizontal well tie-back to a nearby host platform is considered to be the most optimum development scheme

- 2002 - The Thoresby discovery well 48/16b-2 was drilled by Conoco
- 2008 - Hansa farmed into the field

+++ Geology
- The Thoresby field lies on the western margin of the Rotliegendes Leman Sandstone gas fairway. The Leman Sandstone reservoir was deposited in a large EW trending basin which stretched from Southern England in the west all the way Poland. It is flanked to the north and south by basement highs. The centre of the basin contained a permanent inland sea, the Silverpit Lake. The Leman Sandstone is made up of a range of desert facies, from sabkhas at the lake margin to fluvial channels and aeolian reworked sandstones on the basin margins.
- The Leman Sandstone is overlain by the Zechstein Super Group, a thick sequence of limestones and evaporites which provide an excellent regional seal. Underlying the Rotliegendes are the Carboniferous Westphalian Coal Measures which form the main source for the gas in the area. The Westphalian Coals are a prolific source and all structures in the area around Thoresby are believed to be full to spill.
- Structurally the Thoresby field is a simple 3-way dip closure with clear spill-points matching the gas water contact encountered in the two wells. The field is bound to the NE by a significant NW to SE trending fault which is required to seal to explain the gas column encountered in the 48/16b-2 and 3z Wells.
