Description
- The Thistle Alpha installation is located approximately 523 km (325 miles) north north east of Aberdeen and comprises a steel jacket supporting a 3 deck platform, accommodation and helideck.
- It is a fixed installation, which consists of a 60-slot drilling and production platform.
- The West Don Oil Field and Don Southwest Oil Field are subsea tie backs to the Thistle platform
- Oil is transported via the Brent System Oil Pipeline and Sullom Voe Oil Terminal

- 2004 - Petrofac awarded engineering and construction support services contract
- 2007 - An extensive investment programme to extend the life of the Thistle Field and the Thistle facilities was commenced
- 2007 - Fire on Thistle Alpha
- 2008 - Lundin Petroleum recommences production following the fire
- 2008 - Transportation agreement for the Dons developments
- 2010 - Thistle installation receives first oil through pipeline from the Don development
- 2020 - Production ceased and decommissioning began
