Tern Oil Field

Tern Alpha is a fixed installation serving as a manned drilling and production installation for the Tern field in block 210/25 in the East Shetland Basin of the northern North Sea.
The installation consists of a 4-legged steel jacket sub-structure, anchored by piles to the seabed.
The Tern platform serves as a production and drilling facility for the Tern, Kestrel, Hudson, and since 2011, the Falcon fields.
The Cladhan field is also tied back to Tern. The field lies 17.5 kilometres southwest of the Tern platform and straddles UKCS blocks 210/29a and 210/30a. The development consists of two producer wells (P1 and P2) and one injection well (W1).
It also provides production, gas lift and water injection facilities for the Hudson field, water injection facilities for the Eider Oil Field and Kestrel fields and gas lift to the Falcon field.
Crude oil is exported to North Cormorant before joining the Brent System Oil Pipeline via Cormorant Alpha.
The separated gas is compressed and used as fuel gas. It is also used as lift gas for Tern, Hudson and Kestrel production wells.

1975 - Tern Oil Field discovered
1985 - Field development approval given
2007 - Shell and Esso decide to dispose of the field along with a number of others
2008 - TAQA acquired 100% stake in the field from Shell and Esso
2013 - Development of Cladhan approved
2015 - First oil from Cladhan
