Description

  • The Kowe Block, approximately 20 km offshore Gabon with a water depth of 100m, contains three fields, Tchatamba South, Tchatamba Marin and Tchatamba West, together the `Tchatamba Complex`.
  • There are 3 platforms called Tchatamba-A (MOPU), Tchatamba South and the Tchatamba West
  • Until 2003, the MADIELA FSO was utilised which was repl;aced by the Fernan Vaz FSO
  • All crude produced is blended as part of Rabi Light Crude Oil

History

  • 1997 - Tchatamba West discovered
  • 1998 - First oil produced
  • 1999 - Tchatamba South started producing
  • 2000 - First production from Tchatamba West
  • 2003 - A permanent pipeline was constructed directly to the onshore Cap Lopez terminal
  • 2007 - ONE acquired a stake from Devon Energy
  • 2009 - Perenco acquired Marathon's stake

Geology

  • Production in all three fields is from the Lower Cretaceous Madiela reservoir, consisting of high permeable quartz and carbonate shallow marine sands.
  • In addition the largest field, Tchatamba South also produces from the Upper Cretaceous Cap Lopez and Azile reservoirs.
