Ongoing Projects/Project Status

  • Construction of the Terminal is occurring in two phases: Phase 1 has now commenced commercial operations, while Phase 2 will be completed in the first quarter of 2010. When fully commissioned, the Terminal will have a total processing capacity of 15.6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG and be capable of delivering up to 21 billion cubic metres (bcm) per annum of gas into the National Transmission System (NTS) which is equivalent to 20% of total current UK natural gas demand.

History

  • May 2009 - The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of HM The Queen of the United Kingdom and His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar
  • October 2009 - Commercial Operations commence
