A war of words is raging between former Indian cricket captains Sourav Ganguly and Ravi Shastri, after the latter failed to be appointed as the national team's chief coach.
Speaking to India Today, Sourav Ganguly claimed that the Mumbaikar was living in a "fool's world" if he thought only one member in the BCCI's cricket advisory committee was responsible for him not becoming the Indian coach.
Shastri was overlooked by the CAC, comprising Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, and Ganguly, which opted to appoint Anil Kumble as head coach.
Shastri raked up a storm by questioning Ganguly's absence during his interview, and said he found it disrespectful.
An ongoing war of words between Sourav Ganguly (right) and Ravi Shastri (left) has turned ugly, with Ganguly accusing the Mumbaikar of living in a 'fool's world'.
In response, https://allinfootballncricket.hpage.com/sourav-ganguly-the-maharaja-of-cricket.html Ganguly came down heavily on the former India all-rounder.
He told India Today: "If Ravi believes that I am responsible for him not being coach, then he is mistaken.
"To imagine that I am responsible for him not being coach is like living in a fool's paradise.

There were far bigger names in the CAC than Sourav Ganguly."
Ganguly came down heavily on the former India all-rounder Shastri, saying: "If Ravi believes that I am responsible for him not being coach, then he is mistaken."
"The BCCI announced that they would be interviewing candidates for the Indian coach days in advance. He should have been here in person instead of holidaying in a beach in Bangkok, while one of Indian cricket's greatest players made an hour-long presentation in front of players who had lesser abilities than him," he said.
Ganguly said he saw the interview on India Today last evening, and had read newspaper reports on Shastri's comments, but did not want to get involved in a war of words.
India's new chief coach Anil Kumble (second from left) was said to be supported by his old team mates VVS Laxman (left), Sourav Ganguly, and Sachin Tendulkar (right).
