Brief Description

    • Four product caverns for storage of diesel- and fuel oils and having a respective capacity of 44.000, 85.000, 73.000 and 85.000 m3 & 750.000 m3 (4.6 million barrels)

Ongoing Projects

  • A new residue hydrocracker is to be constructed, for details see Preemraff Lysekil Refinery Residue Hydrocracker Project
  • A new Vacuum distillation unit was commissioned in 2019
  • Foster Wheeler AG has been awarded a contract by Preem AB (Publ) Preemraff Lysekil (Preem) to perform the basic engineering design (BED) and front-end engineering design (FEED) for Preem's Energy Savings Program 2013
  • Honeywell is replacing the control systems

History

  • 1975 - Refinery is commissioned
  • 1982 - A Visbreaker was commissioned
  • A fluidized catalytic cracker was completed in autumn 1984.
  • 1988 - A mild hydrocracker was installed
  • 1990 - An isomerization unit was commissioned
  • In 1994 a sulphur tail gas treatment plant was commissioned and the diesel hydrotreating plant was rebuilt into a desulphurisation/dearomatization unit.
  • 2002 - a new unit for production of polymer grade propylene was started.
  • 2005 - Foster Wheeler Awarded Study Contract For Fuel Oil Upgrading
  • 2006 - A new Hydrocracker and a hydrogen production unit were started.
  • 2007 - Preem announces a coker project for the refinery
  • 2009 - The Coker project is put on hold
  • 2009 - Visbreaker commissioned
  • 2016 - Contract signed for residue hydrocracker
  • 2020 - The upgrading project is cancelled
