+++ Description

  • The Mittelplate offshore field, Germany's largest oil deposit, is located off the German North Sea coast at the southern end of the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park. Not only does it produce more oil than any other German oil field – accounting 65 percent of national oil reserves, it is also one of the few deposits proven to date that offer longer-term prospects.
  • The oil produced from the field is processed in the Dieksand onshore station and transported by pipeline to Brunsbütte
  • Operator RWE Dea AG and Wintershall Holding AG –¬ each holding a 50 percent interest – had produced a total of 24 million tonnes of oil by the beginning of 2010. Another 20 to 25 million tonnes of oil are regarded as technically and economically recoverable. In 2010, the production license was extended to 2041.
