  • Malampaya Natural Gas Field is the largest hydrocarbon resource in The Philippines
  • At an installation weight of 11,500 tonnes, the Malampaya topsides was the largest integrated deck ever installed in Asia Pacific
  • The integrated offshore processing facility is located in 43 meter water depth with subsea wells located in 850 meters of water
  • The Malampaya project is in its third phase which encompasses the new installation of a depletion compression platform which will be completed by 2015

+++ History

  • 1980 - The Camago structure was discovered in the area of petroleum service contract 38 (SC 38) by Occidental Petroleum
  • 1990 - Shell acquired 50% of the concession
  • 1995 - After comprehensive studies, it was concluded that the gas field presented an opportunity for commercial gas development
  • 1998 - Joint Declaration of Commerciality was signed by SPEX, OXY and the DOE
  • 1999 - Texaco acquired 45 percent of Shell’s wholly-owned interest in the project
  • 2000 - Shell closed a 10% farm-in agreement with the Philippines National Oil Company-Exploration Corporation (PNOC-EC)
  • 2000 - The pipe-lay vessel known as the Solitaire, laid the Malampaya pipeline’s final section on the seabed
  • 2001 - The field started commercial production
  • 2011 - Shell & Fluor launch phase 3 of the project
  • 2012 - Fluor awarded EPC Contract for phase 3
