Description
- The Lancaster Field is located in blocks 205/21a, 205/22a and 205/26b, licence P1368 Central.
- It is the first basement reservoir development on the UK Continental Shelf, and sits in relatively shallow water of around 160 metres.
- The first phase of the development, the Early Production System (EPS), came on stream in June 2019.
- The EPS involves the intervention and completion of wells 205/21a-6 and 205/21a-7Z, which were drilled in 2014 and 2016 respectively, using an anchored semi-submersible drilling rig.
- The subsea wells, which are approximately 25 metres (m) apart, are fitted with electro-submersible pumps to aid production, and with xmas trees with integrated protective structures.
- The wells are connected to a floating production, storage and offloading(FPSO) vessel, the refurbished Aoka Mizu FPSO, via a production manifold and two separate 2.1 km flexible production flowlines. Produced oil is exported via shuttle tankers, and produced gas is used as fuel with excess gas flared.
