+++ Description

The Khazzan project represents the first phase in the development of one of the Middle East region’s largest unconventional tight gas accumulations. Owing to the tight nature of rocks in Khazzan reservoirs, the wells need to be hydraulically stimulated to stimulate production and flow gas at target rates.
The full field development will involve a drilling programme of around 300 wells over 15 years to deliver plateau production of one billion cubic feet (28.3 million cubic metres) of gas per day and 25,000 barrels per day of gas condensate.
The CPF will include two process trains, each having a capacity of 525 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.
The project also includes an associated condensate processing system, power generation plant, water treatment system and all associated utilities and infrastructure

+++ Contractors

**Petrofac:** Engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the central processing facility (CPF)
**Jacobs:** Engineering, procurement and construction management services in relation to approximately $2 billion of gas gathering and water pipelines, wellhead production facilities and export pipelines
**Global Geophysical Services:** Contract for seismic acquisition
**PGS Data Processing:** Processing of the new seismic and re-processing of the existing seismic data
**Worley Parsons:** Select stage engineering including evaluation of options for the appraisal phase of early production
**Dalma Energy & Co:** Drilling contract

+++ History

1993 - Khazzan Gas Field discovered
2007 - BP signed an agreement for the appraisal and development of Block 61
2008 - BP began appraisal well drilling activities
2013 - The Government of the Sultanate of Oman and BP announced a gas sales agreement and an amended production sharing agreement
2014 - EPC contracts awarded
