Description

  • The Jansz–Io gas fields are located within production licenses WA-36-L, WA-39-L and WA-40-L approximately 200 km off the north-west coast of Western Australia in water depths of approximately 1,350 m
  • Gas is transported via subsea pipeline to Barrow Island
  • The gas is to be used to feed the giant Gorgon LNG Terminal
  • The Jansz-Io Compression (J-IC) project will involve the construction and installation of a 27,000-tonne normally unattended floating Field Control Station (FCS), approximately 6,500 tonnes of subsea compression infrastructure and a 135km submarine power cable linked to Barrow Island.

Contractors

  • Original Project
    • Wood Group and Technip Oceania: Front end engineering and design (FEED) services, and transitioned with the project to provide detailed engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services
  • Compression
    • Aker Solutions:
      • Front end engineering and design (FEED)
      • Engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of an all-electric subsea gas compression system. It also includes interface responsibility, and assistance during installation and commissioning.

History

  • 2000 - The Jansz-Io gas field was discovered
  • 2015 - First gas produced
