Brief Description

• A floating LNG terminal, originally based on the vessel Golar Winter
• This was replaced in 2014 by "Experience" with a storage capacity of 173,400 cubic meters and sendout capability of 1 billion cubic feet per day

  • Moss Maritime regasification system was chosen for the Golar Spirit FSRU.
  • Keppel Offshore & Marine was chosen for the modification and conversion of the Golar Spirit

• In 2014, the vessel was replaced

Suppliers / Customers

• Suppliers:
  • Various including Trinidad & Tobago, Nigeria and Algeria. Shell has an agreement to supply some of the LNG.
  • Petrobras has an agreement with BG Group to supply both the Guanabara Bay Lng Terminal and the [[[Pecem LNG Terminal]]]
• Customers: Natural gas regassed in Guanabara Bay will be sent to thermoelectric power stations by a 15-kilometer long gas pipeline

History

• 2007 - Petrobras signed an umbrella agreement with Sonatrach for the supply of Algerian LNG to Brazil.
• December 2007 - Construction work was started
• January 2009 - Guanabara Bay terminal construction and erection were completed
• April 2009 - Golar Winter was delivered
• 2014 - FSRU Experience completed
• 2021 - The capacity was increased to meet the theoretical limit
