  • A very large regasification terminal capable of supplying 20% of the UK's gas needs

+++ Technical Details

  • Storage capacity:
* Phase 1: four existing LNG storage tanks with a total storage capacity of 200,000 cubic metres
* Phase 2: three full containment 190,000 cubic metres LNG storage tanks.
* Phase 3: One 190,000 cubic metres LNG storage tank
  • Unloading capacity: Capable of berthing and unloading Q-Max vessels, the largest available LNG carriers in the world
  • Send out capacity: 19.7 billion cubic metres of gas per year
  • Constructor:
* **CB&I:** Complete engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for phase 2&3
* **Freyssinet:** LNG Tank post-tensioning


+++ Ongoing Projects/Project Status

  • The 3rd phase of the terminal is currently underway to provide an additional five million tonnes of capacity in time for winter 2010/11.
  • Construction work includes a second jetty, able to take the world's largest LNG carriers - the Q-Max - and an additional full containment LNG storage tank of 190,000m3. The capacity owners for this phase are Centrica, E.ON and Iberdrola.
  • A fourth phase is in the planning stage

+++ Suppliers / Customers

  • **Suppliers:**
* A 20-year contract is in place with BP/Sonatrach for the first phase of capacity to enable them to import LNG into the UK from other countries.
* E.ON and RasGas have a contract to supply 2 Billion cubic metres per year
  • **Customers:** The expanded capacity has been contracted to three customers, Sonatrach, Centrica and Gaz de France Suez.

  • 2005 - The terminal was commissioned with 3.3 million tons / annum capacity
  • 2010 - The third phase was completed
