Description
- Located in water depths of 1,350 metres, 150 kilometres offshore, Girassol was the largest deepwater development to be brought onstream in the world at the time
- The subsea installations consist of 70 km of infield pipelines linked to three riser towers carrying production to a Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) vessel. The FPSO, the largest of its type ever built, is capable of processing 200,000 barrels of oil per day and storing 2 million barrels
- Production from the [[[Rosa Oil Field]]] and Jasmim oil field is tied back to the Girassol FPSO
- Girassol Life Extension (GIRLIFEX) Project: Flexible pipes will be installed bypassing the rigid pipe bundles installed before production began. This will extend the life of the Girassol field
Contractors
- **KWsubsea:** Design of a repair system for deep water pipelines
- Phase 2
- **FMC:** manufacture and supply of subsea production equipment
- **Technip:** project management, engineering, fabrication and installation of umbilicals, interconnecting power cable, recovery and disposal of four rigid spools, installation of eight new flexible spools
- **Aker Solutions:** Delivery of two dynamic power and control steel tube umbilicals, one dynamic power cable and ancillary equipment
- Girassol Life Extension (GIRLIFEX) Project
- TechnipFMC: engineering, procurement, and supply of flowlines and connectors
History
- 1996 - Girassol Oil Field discovered
- 2001 - First production started
- 2003 - Start up of satellite field Jasmim
- 2011 - FMC contract for manufacture and supply of subsea production equipment for Phase 2
- 2012 - Technip awarded Phase 2 EPIC contract
