Summary Information

  • Operator: Chevron
  • Country: Brazil
  • Location: Northern Campos Basin
  • Production start: 2009
  • Partners: Chevron 51.7%, Petrobras - 30%, Inpex/Sojitz 18.3%
  • Type: Oil
  • Estimated Reserves:
  • Production Volume: 79,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day

+++ Description

  • Frade is located in the Campos Basin at a water depth of 3,700 feet (1,128 m), approximately 230 miles (370 km) northeast of Rio de Janeiro.
  • The structure is a slope valley channel deposit with two main fault blocks and spans an area of 20 square kilometers.
  • The development plan consists of a phased reservoir exploitation using subsea wells with a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel.
  • The Frade FPSO, moored by an internal turret accommodating 33 risers, is fitted with topsides for the production of 100,000 barrels of oil, treatment and compression of 106 million standard cubic feet of gas and treatment and injection of 150,000 barrels of water per day

+++ Contractors

  • **Acergy:** installation of a 41 kilometre flexible gas import/export pipeline between the Frade FPSO and the Roncador pipeline manifold, together with flexible risers and well control umbilicals
  • **SBM Offshore:** Lump sum Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) contract covering the provision of an FPSO
  • **Wellstream International:** Supply of 130 kilometres of flowlines, risers and jumpers
  • **FMC Technologies:** 19 enhanced horizontal subsea trees (EHXT), wellheads, pipeline end manifolds with associated structures, production control systems and other related equipment
