Description

• Foinaven is located some 190 kilometres to the north west of Orkney, mainly in UK block 204/24a
• Foinaven phase 1 is based on Golar-Nor's Floating Production Storage and Offtake (FPSO) vessel "Petrojarl Foinaven FPSO"
• The East Foinaven Oil and Gas Field has been developed as a subsea tie-back to the main Foinaven Field
• Gas is exported via a 10 inch pipeline to the West of Shetlands Gas Pipeline System which transports gas to the Sullom Voe Oil Terminal in the Shetland Islands

Contractors

• **Mcdermott:** Detailed design engineering, procurement, installation, partial hook-up and commissioning of subsea systems - Flowlines, trees, manifolds, risers, FPSO topsides and turret
• **GE Oil & Gas:** Two initial engineering studies for future production enhancement

History

• 1994 - The Foinaven Oil Field development project was sanctioned
• 1997 - Foinaven produces first oil
• 2000 - Phase 1 development is completed
• 2000 - Marathon acquired Shell's stake
• 2001 - First oil from East Foinaven
• 2012 - Faroe Petroleum acquired a stake in East Foinaven
• 2019 - RockRose Energy acquired Marathon's stake

Geology

• East Foinaven has a good quality reservoir with Palaeocene channel sands
