Brief Description

  • Dragon’s liquefied natural gas terminal consists of: a jetty, storage tanks and regasification facilities combined with gas export capabilities for 365 days per year continuous operation. The terminal has the capacity to receive and unload up to 217,000 cubic metre capacity carriers in approximately 24 hours.

    • 1,200,000 standard cubic metres per hour,

    • Whessoe: Pre-feasibility/scoping studies and EPC contract


History

  • 2003 - BG Group and Petroplus form Dragon LNG which is given ownership of the site
  • 2003 - Petronas acwquires a stake
  • 2004 - The project partners in sign agreements to trigger go-ahead
  • 2007 - Air Products awarded contract to Supply Nitrogen
  • 2009 - Terminal is commissioned
  • 2013 - Petronas signs supply agreement with Qatargas
  • 2015 - Shell acquired BG Group and became a partner
  • 2019 - Ancala acquired a 50% stake from Petronas

Suppliers / Customers

  • Suppliers:
    • The partners each have the right to utilise a portion of the capacity and will supply it from their global portfolios
    • Petronas has a supply agreement with Qatargas
  • Customers:
    • Two pipelines to connect the terminal to the grid were constructed at the same time as the terminal itself.
    • One runs from Milford Haven to Aberdulais, near Neath and the other from Felindre, near Swansea to Tirley in Gloucestershire
