Details
- The natural gas is presently sourced from two production facilities, the Woodside operated Karratha Gas Plant and the Apache operated Varanus Island facilities
- The majority of the natural gas transported by the DBNGP is consumed by industry, however the pipeline also services both private and State Government owned gas and electricity generators and retailers.

- **Saipem:** Construction design, installation and pre-commissioning of 570 kilometres of nominal bore pipeline and associated facilities for the expansion
History
- 1979 - The State Energy Commission (SECWA) commenced engineering design
- 1982 - After almost three years in planning, construction on the pipeline was launched
- 1984 - The first stage stretching from Dampier to Kwinana Junction was commissioned
- 1985 - The pipeline was extended to Bunbury
- 1998 - The pipeline was privatised
- 2006 - Saipem awarded lump sum turn-key contract for stage 5-A of the expansion
- 2011 - First gas from Devil Creek Reindeer Gas Field
