Description

  • Búzios field is some 200km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, at a water depth that ranges from 1,600 to 2,100 meters. It was previously called Franco Oil And Gas Field
  • It is the second largest oil field in the presalt after Lula Oil Field
  • The field is to be exploited utilising the P 74 FPSO, which will be capable of producing up to 150,000 barrels/day and of compressing 7 million cubic meters of natural gas/day

History

  • 2010 - Franco Oil And Gas Field discovered
  • 2012 - Petrobras reported drilling of the first well

Geology

  • The oil bearing rock is 272 metres thick
  • The pre-salt reservoirs in this field contain good quality oil (between 26º and 28º API)
