Description

  • The Albacora field has an area of 455 km2 and is located in the northern area of the Campos Basin, in water depths ranging from 100 to 1,050 m, at a distance of about 110 km from Cabo de São Tomé, on the northern coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro. It was the first giant deepwater field in Brazil
  • The Albacora field comprises 65 wells, two production units (semisubmersible P-25 and P-31 FPSO) and seven diverless manifolds (six for oil production and one for water injection).
  • The production capacity is 150,000 bopd and 90 mmcf/d of natural gas.
  • The semisubmersible platform P-25 has a process plant with the capacity of 100,000 bopd and 115 mmcf/d of natural gas.
  • There are 14 production wells connected directly to the platform (satellite wells) and 16 wells connected to two diverless production manifolds by a vertical flowline connection system.
  • These FMC Technologies manifolds, installed in December 1995 and April 1996, were the world’s deepest subsea production manifolds and multiplex control pods at the time.
  • The FPSO P-31 process plant capacity is 200,000 bopd and 130 mmcf/d of gas.
  • The plant processes the oil produced in P-25 platform and the oil production of 28 production wells connected to four FMC Technologies production diverless manifolds.

Contractors

  • FMC Technologies:
    • Design and construction of permanent internal mooring system for FPSO
    • Subsea trees, production manifolds, control modules & vertical connection modules

History

  • 1984 - The Albacora field was discovered
  • 2007 - Temporary stoppage due to riser problems
